Float my Boat

Good morning today I am sharing another boat card using Lawn Fawn "Float my Boat" set I love this little set for male cards, but I had a I cannot make a card day and everything that could go wrong did so ignore my wonky letters :0))...

I stamped my image on water colour paper and coloured with "Letraset Aqua Markers", I love colouring with water, sadly most of them had dried out not bad considering I have had them for about 8 years :0) I had enough to make this card, I used my MFT " Circles Stax" and "By the Letters" and just scraps of paper, I added some silver pearls on my circle, I stamped a simple greeting a cut it banner style and added some twine with a anchor charm, a simple quick card, thank you for looking today, biggest of hugs love Pops x x x

Docraft's Creativity Magazine

I got a new magazine this week, Docraft's Creativity, and it had some free gifts inside of it, I love Decoupage but struggle with my hands so was delighted that this was pop out decoupage and I had a little play with my free gift and I loved every minute of it, it has been ages since I made just for fun, and since I am only allowed to buy craft things that my local Hobbycraft sells I am in luck :0))....

Inside the magazine you got 4 sheets of pop out decoupage and 4 sheets of paper, so I made some these, I added some glitter and a small x cut heart and some embossed card for this one...

I just added a small gem and a middle size x cut heart on this one...

I added some glitter, sequins and a small x cut heart to this one...

This one I had run out of the paper, my little x cut guillotine got stuck and hubby said he would fix it and smashed the handle off, so I hand cut up some scraps and added them to string along the top. a peg for the little tag and of course a x cut heart both small and middle size, thank you so much for looking today, biggest of hugs love Pops x x x

Things we love

Good morning sorry I didn't get about yesterday, Sam went in to hospital to have her spine eased, as she has got older (she will be 20 soon) the Cerebral Palsy has made her spine crush together and she has a hump developing and she has been in pain for a few years, she has pain pills but they just don't touch the pain so the Dr suggested having injections in her spine, talk about scary, so I spent the day pacing about and colouring images, she is ok sore and bruised but fingers crossed it works for her, today I am sharing another card I made with "Hero Arts Things we love" stamp set...

I love messing with inks, so "Distress Inks" background and I stamped and embossed with "Hero Arts Embossing Powder" then added colour with distress inks, I added 3 small gems and tied some twine around the panel....

Before I go I wanted to share this photo with you and some words from Sam, you know she had an operation and ended up with a very small foot, her words make me swell up with pride...

Ok so I don't usually take pictures like this, and to many this will just look like a simple picture of 'someone feet' but there is a story behind it and a reason I have left the colour in the sock. That reason is because just looking you cannot tell how badly deformed my feet are from my disability and the scars the socks are hiding. The scars from many unsuccessful surgery.years of contraptions and physiotherapy, been weighted and tried down all in order to get me on my feet and to be able to put one foot in front of the other. Some may Consider this to be unlucky but I will wear my scars with pride as I know how lucky I am to still be able to walk relatively 'normal' I may find that this holds me back from some things in life but I consider myself lucky everyday that I have the ability to walk even if it is painfully. I know many people who are not so lucky and would kill to walk. So these are my feet. They may not walk properly but there are the only pair I will have and I will walk through the struggles of life with them and smile!

Isn't she growing up, thank you for looking today biggest of hugs love Pops x x x

Inktense Tutorial (pic heavy)

Good morning today I am sharing an Inktense Tutorial with you, my last one I accidentally deleted when I deleted an album online which took all of the photos of my blog every single one of them sigh, I am not an expert this is how I colour images with Inktense, I love them to bits and they are my favourite thing to use, I have done a basic one for you in pictures, I would like to say sorry for the pictures when I started the sun was beaming through the window, after about 5 mins it got really dark and started to snow, I didn't have a light with me and wanted to get it finished, I use the pencils as I only have the pencils but you can buy them in blocks, I think that would be better for bigger areas...

Here is how I start, I have my Langton pad, my stamp, my ink, and a colour chart so I can see what colour they go, paint brushes and my pencils, along with a pot of water and some kitchen towel to dry my brush on...

I start by stamping my stamp on to watercolour paper and these 2 pencils are what I like to use for my skin tone, Carmine Pink and Baked Earth...

I start with Carmine Pink using small gentle circular motions...

I then go over and blend towards the centre using the Baked Earth pencil, still going lightly in circular motions...

I then dip my brush in to water and mix the colours using small circular motions, I keep my brush almost dry and keep rinsing it all the time, so my brush is always clean and almost dry...

I left it to dry for a few minutes and decided it was to light, remember that it is always better to start lighter as these are pencils but made of ink if you go to dark you cannot go lighter but if you are to light you can go darker, so I added some more Baked Earth to where I wanted her to be darker...

I blended out the skin with water and then added more Baked Earth to her face as it was looking a little to light too...

I am now happy with her skin, if I wasn't I would just go back and add more until I was happy with her...

I am now moving on to her hair, I am going to use Saddle Brown and Sicilian Yellow....

I start by popping in my darkest colour Saddle Brown where I want it to be darker...

I then use my lighter colour Sicilian Yellow and blend the colours together but going a little bit further with my yellow....

I mix the colours with water and fill in the white areas, again with a clean almost dry brush, if I wanted her hair darker at this point I would add more colour but I wanted her to be lighter so left it here...

For my pinafore, pants and shoes I am using Spring Green, you can see here I have put a lot of colour already in the places I want to be the darkest...

I pull the colour in to the lighter areas until I am happy...

I am now using Golden Yellow and coloured the bits I want to be the darkest, in small circular motions not pressing to hard...

I have blended the colour with my paintbrush to fill in the white part and her clothes are now complete...

I am now moving on the the flowers and leaves that are around her, for her leaves I am using Light Olive and for the flowers I am using Sienna Gold, again just colouring lightly in the area I want to be the darkest...

She is now completed I just need to ground her and shade around her...

I wanted to ground her with Fern so coloured a tiny amount just under her feet and the flowers...

I used a slightly bigger wetter brush for this part as I wanted the ground to be thicker and more of a watercolour....

For her shade I used the Dark Aquamarine and I have slightly drawn around my image pressing ever so lightly to give as little a colour as possible...

I used a slightly bigger paintbrush and wet it a bit more to create a bit more of a watercolour effect for her shade, but decided now that the ground needs to be a bit darker...

I have added some Leaf Green as a slightly darker shade for the ground...

I blended the darker green over the top of the lighter green and I am leaving it at that, now one last thing she needs some cheeks...

I used Carmine Pink and coloured a tiny tiny circle....

I pushed the colour on her cheeks towards the outside edge of her face to create her cheeks again with an almost dry brush, I could go in again but I am happy with them...

I add some highlights with my white pen once the image is dry, as these are pencils you can go in time and time again, you can layer and layer they are just brilliant, now she is ready to go on to a card, I hope you found this useful, thank you so much for looking big hugs love Pops x x x
